Santa Fe Early Learning Center
Lowrance Family YMCA - Early Learning Center
Toddler (24 to 36 months)
During this stage of development, children are full of energy and eager to learn. Because of their inquisitive nature, the children are introduced to "circle time" where they gather on a daily basis to sing songs, listen to stories, learn Spanish, begin basic lessons including weather, letters of the alphabet and numbers. As a bonus, the YMCA also teaches toddlers simple sign language. Through this process, toddlers are enabled to further develop their language skills and learn basic concepts.
Preschool (3 & 4 years old) and Pre K (4 & 5 years old)
YMCA preschool uses developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) and the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines to assist with the individual development of each child. Besides the developmental curriculum, children in the Preschool Program enjoy many other YMCA activities - that build self-confidence and socialization skills.
The YMCA preschool allows children to engage in an individualized curriculum, introducing them to writing, reading, counting, colors, shapes, numbers and more. The preschool classroom is equipped with many discovery centers and sensory activities that stimulate understanding of their surroundings. They are encouraged to be creative as they engage in hands on activities that allow for imagination and questioning.
